The only small change I made to this was to add a little bit of whipping cream for a lighter, fluffier frosting. And you can make a smaller or larger cake and change the number of biscuits too. You can use a little more or less of all of the frosting ingredients as you like, more or less coffee based on how much you love the flavour. There are also no real fixed ingredient amounts for this cake. The biscuits are soaked in a basic water-coffee solution, and layered with a silky buttercream frosting. It’s super simple to make and is basically an icebox cake, meaning the fridge does all of the work, the oven remains off, and you walk around impatiently waiting till the moment you can cut into it. So this cake is memories, it’s Indian, it’s fabulous. Two things I adore (my mornings still begin with a giant frothy mug of Bru) and if you grew up in India, chances are you had them in your home too. What I love most about it, is it brings together Parle-G glucose biscuits, with Bru instant coffee. This cake was intensely popular among everyone she knew, I knew, and everyone they knew. Even with that once-a-year occurrence, whether it was for a birthday or we had guests over, she became faaaaamous. It’s 95% butter, so I get where she was coming from. This epic ‘biscuit cake’ is something I grew up eating, but about once a year because thankfully, my Mom knew what was good for us and didn’t give in to our incessant demands to make this for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Since the timing belt is deeper in the engine, it is often much more expensive to replace than the serpentine belt. The timing belt will often drive the water pump too. Serpentine belt vs timing belt? The timing belt connects the crankshaft to the camshaft, thus making sure the pistons and valves are operating in the correct sequence. The serpentine belt in your Aura connects your engine to many of the components you use every day such as your air conditioner, battery (via the alternator), power steering and cooling system - a quick look at the serpentine belt diagram outline all of the components feeding from it. Check out our parts page for coupons on new belts for your Aura! Most vehicles do not need a special serpentine belt tool, but rather a 1/2" breaker bar and a socket on the serpentine belt tensioner to relieve the tension from the belt. Depending on your engine, the serpentine belt replacement cost is between $100 and $200. Worn serpentine belt noise in a Aura can indicate impending problems if ignored, while typically being fairly cheap and easy to replace. Honda makes good engines, we own a “K” 4 cyl in a CRV, but they seem to have convinced the public that belt changes and valve adjustments are normal service expenses that everyone has, when they are not.The video above shows how to check the serpentine belt on your 2008 Saturn Aura - if it gives more than a half inch when pressed, is cracked, frayed or appears shiny, you should change it (or have it changed) immediately. My ’97 Saturn SW2, with a chain, has over 160K miles, a friends Honda with a belt just cost him several hundred to have the belt changed at the 100K-mile service. The only timing chain issue I have ever heard about was some first year Ecotech engines, inadequate oiling, resolved quickly. The Honda still requires that the valves be adjusted, not cheep, and if not done or done incorrectly, very expensive! The Ecotech has automatic valve lash adjusters, as does every other GM engine produced in the last four decades. Another related issue is valve adjustment. I second the opinion that all engines should use a chain, even Honda has woken up to this and the K series four cyl engines now use a chain. I can confirm that the Ecotech uses a chain in all but the smallest of displacement, the 1.8L. It would suck if that exhaust valve clashed with the piston because the VTEC system kept it open a little to long. I can see the logic of why VTEC engines would be non-interference because of the difference in valve actuation. It also uses a timing belt versus a chain. A domestic engine that comes to mind is the 3.5L Chrysler developed while they were still Chrysler Corp. Honda is not exclusive in this type of engine design, as many other auto manufactors have non-interference engines. The engine will indeed simply stop operating as the Honda salesmen stated. Meaning, if the timing is lost within the engine (timing belt breaks) none of the internal parts, mainly the valves and pistons, will come into contact with each other. VTEC Engines are non-interference engines. Some owners of cars with timing belts are not so fortunate. FWIW, a few years ago, a Honda salesman told me that VTEC engines were designed so that if the belt broke, it would not affect any other moving parts in the engine: the engine would simply stop. Tourism is their largest income, followed by fishing. They were originally sent as convicts (does this sound like the plot of Hunger Games?) and have now intermarried. Well I won’t be buying a hut here any time soon, but 4000 people live here. Welcome to Komodo Island Who lives on Komodo Island? But if medical attention is rendered, you still need to survive their sharp teeth and deadly claws. If the prey manages to get away it soon collapses and dies and the dragon can feast on it later. It is believed, even by the guides, that it’s the toxic bacteria that kills, but a scientific study by the University of Melbourne in 2009 dispelled that and proved that there is venom in their saliva. Are they venomous or physically lethal? I had heard that the dragon is so poisonous that one lick of its forked tongue and you’d be dead in 24 hours.I can only imagine how pissed off that would make them. They are also all micro-chipped, which must be a mission! To do that risky job, one lures them into a cage with raw meat and jabs the chip in. There are over 2,200 dragons on the 390sqm Komodo island and two other islands nearby also are home to some. They wear camouflage grey/brown, so we didn’t see them in the trees, and we can barely make them out on the ground. Up in the tree it stays living on insects, lizards, birds and anything else that has the misfortune of landing there until it is too heavy to stay on a branch. It must make it to the tree before its mother sees it or she will eat it. When a baby Komodo dragon hatches it burrows out of its dirt mound of a nest and makes for the nearest tree to stay until it grows up. And on we continued, now laughing and joking and generally losing our sense of alertness. I think when the adrenalin kicked in I would possibly get to that speed too. Good God! One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen! Five freaky facts about the Komodo Dragon I’ve also heard that they can stand on their hind legs and run. But I reckon I would shoot up a tree faster than a firework. Can they climb trees, I asked? Only the little ones can. And don’t run straight either, run in zig zags. Komodo dinner What to do if a Komodo Dragon comes after you?įirstly he would try and jab his crook under its head, he said. Any sudden movements, like the member of our party who decided to sprint to the beach, causes them to lift their heads and hone their beady eyes while the guides leapt up and shouted for everyone to remain still.Įven my swinging camera bag had the big male above begin to make steps towards me until I was told to clutch it under my arm and a guide stepped between us. The Komodo dragon typically lies about lazily like an alligator, but don’t be fooled. Can it get any more terrifying, we exclaimed! There are also poisonous snakes out here, said Hayuri, when we were walking along the dusty track surrounded by scrubby bush. A few girls in our group were scared to the point of tears, but after a quiet word with Hayuri, our English speaking guide, we were assured we’d all be ok. The only thing between me and the dragon are the rangers carrying a stick to thwart an attack!Īnd yes, it is true they can also smell a menstruating woman. They are cold-blooded and take a long time to digest their food and don’t eat every day. However, if I were the sweet Bambi that I saw sitting beside the toilet, I would hedge my bets that I’d make it as the Komodo only needs about 50kg of meat per month. They are not fed here on Komodo Island, they catch their own prey and poor, innocent deer, wild boar and chickens that also roam here are the losers. They can grow to three metres (nearly 10 feet) and can smell food up to four km (2.5 miles) away. Komodo dragons are the largest lizard on earth. All they carry is a Y-shaped stick and stories to spook the daylights out of you. The Komodo Dragon is a fearful beast and you can only visit this island and walk on the trails with a guide. Literally walking around them – keeping a wide berth – and posing for photos like the ones you see of stupid tourists just before they are mauled to death. I spent the day on Indonesia’s famous Komodo Island walking with dragons. I’m actually crouching about three metres behind him and rangers are standing around with sticks □ One little nag we had with it is that it only offers up two hotkeys to work with. Using Bayesian filtering, SpamSieve installs as a plug-in to your mail client and lets you mark messages as spam. This will help you not only block out recurring spam messages but also identifying email that you absolutely never want to be marked as spam. My Friday favorite is SpamSieve. We have mentioned it a few times previously, but since it has recently been updated to version 2.76 I wanted to sing its praises again. Its the best way Ive found to deal with spam. The best function of SpamSweep is probably being able to create custom filters. We liked being able to quickly switch by account though, and the little search box to quickly find specific email. While you can sort mail by sender and subject, it's a shame that you can not view messages by mail size. SpamSweep's interface is a little basic, yet it lets you quickly identify spam emails and separate them from clean messages. Save time by adding powerful spam filtering to the e-mail client on your Mac. Just in case SpamSweep also supports IMAP accounts. Version 2.9.49 of SpamSieve is now available. Set the mail client you use (up to seven to choose from, including Thunderbird, Apple Mail and Eudora) and what accounts you wish to filter to get it up and running.
